Black Health Equity Collaborative Board Application

The Black Health Equity Collaborative (BHEC) is an emerging nonprofit consisting of partnerships among Black-serving organizations to reduce health inequities among Black residents in Long Beach and surrounding areas. The mission of BHEC is to address health inequities and disparities in Black communities through one powerful voice. BHEC is seeking dynamic volunteer leaders to join its board of directors. The current board election will constitute a newly elected board that will be charged with shaping the vision and direction of BHEC in consultation with current BHEC members. Therefore, the newly elected will be actively involved in organizational governance, attend monthly board meetings, support the growing BHEC infrastructure, contribute to BHEC financial sustainability, and actively support community partner relationships. The board is seeking passionate candidates who are connected to health and wellness businesses and agencies, cultural organizations, educational systems, medical centers, and community organizations focuses on the needs of Black communities. The BHEC Board of Directors will benefit from members who have a variety of skills including accounting, human resource, legal, philanthropy, and media expertise, as well as those connected to local/regional healthcare systems, health coalitions, organized education, and grassroots organizing with Black communities. BHEC BOARD EXPECTATIONS: Attend at least Monthly Board Meetings Support BHEC’s growth, fiduciary goals, and sustainability and that of its organizational members Provide governance in collaboration with BHEC organizational members.
